Back-to-Back and Unbeaten: Miss Piggies Cap 20th Season with Grand Final Win Over Cooma

The Wildbrumby Schnapps Jindabyne Miss Piggies are premiers again.

On Saturday 8 August 2026, the Miss Piggies held off a fast-finishing Cooma 31–29 to claim the Women’s 10s Grand Final — securing back-to-back titles and closing out a second straight season undefeated. In the club’s 20th anniversary year, it’s hard to imagine a sweeter way to celebrate two decades of women’s rugby in Jindabyne.

The much-anticipated rematch of the 2025 decider lived up to every bit of the billing: five lead changes, and a contest that stayed live right until the final hooter, with the Miss Piggies holding their nerve when Cooma came hardest at the death.

First-half fireworks

Eden Klemm (#10, Macleod Trucking) needed less than a minute to get Jindabyne moving, finishing a try and slotting the conversion for an early 7–0 lead. Cooma answered in the 4th minute — try unconverted — to make it 7–5, then edged in front for the first time in the 9th with another unconverted try to lead 10–7.

The Miss Piggies’ response was emphatic. Tilhaney Grainger (#4, High Country Plumbing & Gas) crossed in the 12th minute to reclaim the lead at 12–10, then struck again in the 15th to stretch it to 17–10. Andrea Marshall (#14, SJ & LM Contracting) added a fourth in the 18th, with Klemm’s boot pushing Jindabyne out to 24–10. Cooma steadied with a converted try right on the break to make it 24–17 at the turn.

A grandstand finish

Cooma came out swinging after half-time, levelling the scores at 24–24 in the 27th minute with a converted try. But Klemm had the final word in the arm-wrestle, crossing for her second in the 30th and converting to nudge the Miss Piggies back in front 31–24 — for a moment, the very scoreline that won last year’s Grand Final.

Cooma weren’t done. A converted try in the 34th minute closed the gap to 31–29 and set up a frantic finish, but the Miss Piggies’ defence held firm through the closing stages. When the hooter sounded, the scoreboard read Jindabyne 31, Cooma 29 — and the celebrations began.

Klemm finished with two tries and three conversions from five attempts, a standout afternoon with ball and boot. Grainger’s double and Marshall’s try rounded out the Jindabyne scoring. 

Undefeated, again

The road here was anything but ordinary. The Miss Piggies powered through 2026 without a loss — emphatic wins including 88–0, 62–7 and 55–14 — with their only blemish of the year a 24–24 draw against Saturday’s opponents. A commanding 43–12 finals win over Easts showed they were peaking at exactly the right time, and with no semi-final buffer, every finals match was win-or-go-home.

Going back-to-back, unbeaten, in a 20th anniversary season is a rare combination for any club side — and this group earned every bit of it. Two knockout finals, a decider that went right to the wire, and every test met. They’ll start next season as reigning premiers, chasing a third straight title.
