Celebrating Excellence: 2024 Senior Presentation Night at the Banjo Paterson Inn

The Jindabyne Rugby Union Club hosted a memorable Senior Presentation Night on Friday at the Banjo Paterson Inn, honouring the achievements of our dedicated players, sponsors, and supporters. A massive thank you goes out to everyone who joined the festivities, making it a night to remember.

Top Try Scorers

The Top Try Scorers award, presented by Cameron McKid from our major sponsor, Banjo Paterson Inn, saw some thrilling achievements:

  • Brock Freeburn and Ethan Cawthorn of the Bushpigs tied with an impressive 13 tries each.
  • Sarah Farrell dominated for the Miss Piggies, securing 7 tries.

Top Point Scorers

Also presented by Cameron McKid, the Top Point Scorers accolade was claimed by:

  • Dylan Johnson with 191 points for the Bushpigs.
  • Sarah Farrell, once again showing her prowess, topped the Miss Piggies’ tally with 35 points.

Rookie of the Year

Life members Nick Elliott and Jake Roarty proudly handed out the Rookie of the Year awards:

  • Patrick Killin (Bushpigs)
  • Sarah Farrell (Miss Piggies)

Best Back

Life Member Lochy Thompson, a winner of this award in 1987 and 1990, presented this year’s Best Back honours:

  • Dylan Johnson (Bushpigs)
  • Bernadette Lai (Miss Piggies)

Best Forward

Three-time Best Forward winner Matt Fish (2002–2004) presented the Best Forward award to:

  • Matthew Norman (Bushpigs)
  • Montana Hawkins (Miss Piggies)

Best & Fairest

The coveted Best & Fairest awards, presented by Life Member Buzz Johnson (1995 Best & Fairest winner), were given to:

  • Jackson Stewart (Bushpigs)
  • Charlotte Nicholls (Miss Piggies)

Players Player

Life Member Mick Needham (Players Player awardee in 2000, 2001, and 2003) presented this year’s honours to:

  • Darcy Alexander (Bushpigs)
  • Amira Draper (Miss Piggies)

Coaches Award

The Coaches Awards were presented by Miss Piggies coach Leanne Saare and Bushpigs coach Matt Tripet:

Club Person of the Year is the highest accolade awarded annually. This award recognises an individual who goes above and beyond, working tirelessly for the benefit of the club.

In 2024, we are thrilled to celebrate an extraordinary individual who truly embodies the spirit of dedication and service to the Jindabyne Rugby Union Club!

The 2024 Club Person of the Year is Saskia Dutch.

Sass has been an integral part of the club the past couple of years, providing valuable insights and helping shape new and exciting initiatives. Taking over as Publicity Manger, Sass has produced some amazing content being recognised throughout the community. The recent Junior and Senior presentation events are another shining example of her commitment. Coordinating special events like the DWA charity day, as well as engaging our Junior Gala Day and Ladies’ Day, she has tirelessly supported both our senior and ever-growing junior teams.

In addition to excelling in her roles as Publicity Manager and Events Co-Ordinator, she has also taken on the responsibilities of Team Manager for the Miss Piggies for the past couple of years. Sass has also helped out in the junior club assisting the U14 girls and Kids Clinic during the touch season.
