The Jindabyne Rugby Union Club’s Charity Dinner on Saturday 6 July was a fantastic evening for all.

Over 160 guests attended the sold out event at Banjo Paterson Inn, including club players, sponsors and supporters, along with a wonderful cross-section of the Jindabyne and wider snow community. Even the match officials from Saturday’s Bushpigs and Miss Piggies matches attended!

Guests enjoyed an insight into the incredible journeys of guest speakers Joey Fry and Sam Tait, along with some words from Disabled Wintersport Australia President Melinda Brown on the valuable work DWA does to provide the opportunity for people, irrespective of disability, to find freedom on snow.

But the main event was the auction of the starting jerseys worn by our senior teams in their matches earlier in the day, the Wildbrumby Schnapps Miss Piggies and the Banjo Paterson Inn Bushpigs.

Under the guidance of Nick Kirshner and Aaron Mackay from Kirshner Mackay Property & Livestock, there was plenty of competition to secure each jersey. The Bushpigs #7 jersey proved to be the most popular on the night, fetching an incredible $1,900, whilst the Miss Piggies #8 jersey achieved the highest result in the women’s going for $600. The jersey auction achieved a total of $23,195 on the evening, with a further $850 raised by the evening’s entertainment act, Damo & V, offering a performance for auction. The total amount is yet to be determined, following collation of the day’s raffle proceeds and donations received either online or through the club’s activation at Thredbo’s Friday Flat on Sunday.
