FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTY TRY-FEST IN pigs’ 41–8 win over Cooma
Jindabyne Bushpigs delivered a commanding 41–8 home victory over Cooma Red Devils, showcasing their attacking prowess and depth across the field. In front of a huge crowd under the new lights at JJ Connors Oval, the Bushpigs applied continuous pressure, with multiple try scorers combining to keep Cooma on the back foot throughout the match.
The standout performer was Brock Freeburn, who crossed the line twice in the first half and added three successful conversions, contributing a total of 17 points. Jackson Stewart, Finn Chatten and Chad Cumbers all found their way to the try line, adding to Jindabyne’s strong start. Impact players off the bench also made their mark, with Darcy Alexander and Mac Livissianos each scoring tries that helped extend the lead.
Cooma’s scoring was limited a first-half penalty and a late try, but they struggled to contain Jindabyne’s relentless forward momentum and creative backline plays. The Bushpigs dominated possession and territory, turning opportunities into points with clinical precision.
This match was played on the eve of ANZAC Day, and featured a moving pre-match ANZAC commemoration with life members Jim Crocker and Ian “Ruffy” Graham leading the teams onto the field.
It was also the club’s first Friday night game under the new lights at JJ Connors Oval, an initiative supported by, Snowy Monaro Regional Council, Kristy McBain MP, sponsor Hextra, and the many volunteers who helped make the lighting project possible.
The win sees the Bushpigs on top of the Southern Tablelands Monaro Cup ladder on 15 points, equal with Bungendore who are also undefeated. Next week the Bushpigs head to Crookwell to take on Crookwell Dogs.
