2024 Junior Presentation: Celebrating Our Future Rugby Stars

On Saturday, September 21, 2024, the Jindabyne Rugby Union Club’s juniors gathered at the Jindabyne Bowling Club for a well-deserved celebration of their efforts and achievements throughout the season. This afternoon was all about recognising the hard work put in by our junior players, as well as the dedication of their parents, coaches, and managers.

A Successful Season

With 141 registered players across 8 junior teams, the 2024 season was another stellar year for our young rugby stars. We are proud to announce:

  • 5 teams reached the finals: U12s, U13s, U14 Girls, U15 Boys, and U16 Girls.
  • 3 teams made it to the Grand Finals: U12s, U14 Girls, and U15 Boys.
  • And our U15 Boys claimed the title of Division 3 Premiers!

A remarkable 23 of our JRUC players were selected to represent South Coast Monaro Junior Rugby and Brumbies Country at the 2024 NSW State Championships. Their selection is a testament to the skill and commitment of our young athletes. Congratulations to the following:

  • Under 12s: 6 players (boys and girls)
  • Under 14 Boys: 2 players
  • Under 14 Girls: 3 players
  • Under 16 Boys: 2 players
  • Under 16 Girls: 8 players

We also celebrate Lilou, who represented South Coast Sports Association in Primary Girls 7s, Frank in the U13s team for South Coast Monaro, and Issy and Eden, who were selected for the NSWCHSSA 7s tour to New Zealand. A special mention goes to Mitch McMahon, who represented South Coast School Sports Association in the Opens XV!

A Huge Thank You to Our Parents and Volunteers

Parents, your unwavering support was crucial to our success. From driving to training sessions to helping with canteen duties, your contributions made a huge difference. To our committee, thank you for all your hard work behind the scenes in 2024, from decision-making and event planning to grounds management and organising raffles. Your efforts keep our club thriving!

Junior Club Person of the Year: Stefan Klemm

We are thrilled to announce Stefan Klemm as the 2024 Junior Club Person of the Year. Stefan has gone above and beyond as the U18s coach and a club committee member, showing extraordinary commitment to our club. He ensured his players made it to training, often driving them himself, and provided personal feedback and support with his Sunday check-in calls. Stefan’s dedication extended beyond coaching, as he regularly volunteered at the canteen and even missed his own child’s games to lead the U18s. His selflessness and passion for rugby are truly inspiring.

Looking Ahead to 2025

We look forward to another fantastic year of junior rugby in Jindabyne in 2025. A huge thank you to all our junior players, families, and volunteers for making 2024 a season to remember! We can’t wait to see what next year brings!
