A Big Day at JJ Connors Oval
Round 6 of the 2026 Southern Tablelands Monaro Cup delivered a full day of rugby at JJ Connors Oval on Saturday 16 May. The Men’s and Women’s sides both came away with wins, while the Juniors continued to gain valuable experience on the park. Here’s how each grade got on.

Men’s: Bushpigs 55 – ADFA Lions 41
The Bushpigs put in a strong team performance to secure a 55–41 win over the ADFA Lions at home in Round 6, moving to five wins from six games and consolidating second place on the ladder.
The scoring started early, with Taylor Deer (#7 – TRC Trails) crossing in the second minute. The forwards continued to carry effectively, with Matt Jones (#4 High Country Plumbing & Gas) crossing twice — in the 13th and 33rd minutes and Henry Earl (#8 – Alpines Law) adding to the tally in the 20th minute. The backs then took over, captain Brock Freeburn (#13 – Porter’s Power) also bagging a double before half time. Off the bench, Hunter Pearce (#18) made an immediate impact with two tries in the 51st and 61st minutes. Mathew Peterson (#12 – Jindabyne Butchery) was reliable with the boot, converting five of the seven tries.
The Bushpigs took the foot off the gas in the last 20 minutes, allowing ADFA to score a number of tries to reduce the gap, although the match was never in doubt.

Women’s 10s: Miss Piggies 20 – Cooma Devils Angels 15
The Miss Piggies made it five wins from five in the Country Conference with a hard-fought 20–15 win over Cooma Devils Angels at home, keeping themselves clear at the top of the standings.
Tilhaney Grainger (#5 – Reece) was the standout contributor, crossing twice – once initially to give the Miss Piggies early momentum and then in the last play of the match to break a 15-all deadlock and secure the win. Andrea Marshall (#15 – Studio #22) and captain Eden Klemm (#10 – Macleod Trucking) each added a try to contribute to the result. Cooma kept the pressure on and made it a close finish, but the Miss Piggies held firm defensively in the closing stages before sealing the match-winning try.

U15s: Valuable Experience Against a Strong Daramalan Side
The U15s faced a challenging afternoon at JJ Connors Oval, going down 126–0 to Daramalan U15’s Black. Daramalan are a well-drilled side, and the result reflects the step up in competition. Despite the scoreline, the Jindabyne players showed commitment throughout and kept working for each other until the final whistle.
The support from families, coaches, and club members on the sideline was a constant throughout the game, and that backing matters. The focus now shifts to the next fixture as the boys carry the lessons from this experience forward.
U12s: Dominant 61 – 26 Win Over Gungahlin Eagles
The U12s put in their best performance of the season, securing a convincing 61–26 win over Gungahlin Eagles U12s at Nicholls Enclosed in Round 3 of the ACTJRU Under 12 Div 2.
The try-scoring was spread right across the squad, with Rory and Marshall adding two more. Leo and Thomas were flawless with the boot, combining for nine conversions between them. Gungahlin offered moments of resistance, but Jindabyne’s consistent ball movement and clinical finishing kept them in control throughout.
The U12s carry this form into their next fixture with genuine confidence.
