Seniors Round 5: Jindabyne Sides Set for Key Bungendore Clashes
Round 5 of the 2026 Southern Tablelands Monaro Cup brings one of the competition’s most charged rivalries back to JJ Connors Oval. Both the Bushpigs and Miss Piggies face Bungendore in what shapes as the defining afternoon of the season so far and if history is any guide, neither match will be short on intensity.

Banjo Paterson Inn Bushpigs vs Bungendore Mudchooks
This rivalry has produced grand finals, title swings, and some of the best rugby the Southern Monaro competition has seen. The Bushpigs won back-to-back premierships in 2022 and 2024, beating Bungendore in both deciders. In 2025, the Mudchooks flipped the script entirely, handing Jindabyne a 76–10 result early in the season, followed by a better performance from the pigs at home late in the season before the Mudchooks went on to face Cooma in the 2025 decider.
Both sides arrive at JJ Connors Oval undefeated in 2026. The Bushpigs have been near-immaculate; dismantling Yass, 2025 premiers Cooma, and Crookwell in succession. Whilst their attack has been impressive, their defensive record is extraordinary by any measure, conceding just four tries in three games. It speaks to a squad that is not just fit and organised, but genuinely motivated to reclaim the form of their three recent premiership years. Bungendore will also take the field on Saturday in great form, averaging just over 50 points scored per game in their first four fixtures, pipping Yass 39-35 in round one, before dominating Cooma, Crookwell and ADFA.
The form of both teams suggest Saturday will be a scintillating attacking affair, but the better defensive side should reign supreme.

Wildbrumby Schnapps Miss Piggies vs Bungendore Mudchicks
Few rivalries in the women’s competition have swung as dramatically as this one. Bungendore had the measure of the Miss Piggies in 2024, winning their head-to-head meetings by a combined 175 points. Jindabyne’s response was emphatic — an undefeated regular season in 2025, defeating the Mudchicks on the along the way and a Grand Final victory to claim the championship. The Miss Piggies didn’t just bounce back. They dominated!
The 2026 season has picked up right where 2025 left off. The Miss Piggies are unbeaten through three games and showing no signs of easing up. The Mudchicks have won three from four: dangerous, motivated, and with a point to prove after last year. When these two sides meet, the result is never straightforward and with the Country Conference ladder beginning to take shape, Saturday carries real weight.
The Miss Piggies bring the form and hunger of reigning champions. The Mudchicks bring the belief that one loss doesn’t define them and that this rivalry is far from settled. It’s a contest that has swung both ways in recent seasons and neither side will be happy leaving JJ Connors Oval without the result.
For the Miss Piggies Saturday is another opportunity to prove that the 2025 title wasn’t a fluke, it was the beginning of something special as we celebrate 20 years of the Miss Piggies in 2026.

Juniors Round 2: Two Teams on Debut
Our two junior teams had the bye in round one, so they are both eager and ready to go for their first matches of the 2026 season and launch a huge day of rugby.
The Jindabyne Piglets Under 12s are first-up, keen to continue the form that saw them take the Under 11s Green Division premiership in 2025. Our littlest Piglets welcome some new players playing their first-ever game of rugby, whilst welcoming Uni-Norths Owls – a great club that have long-enjoyed visiting Jindabyne and the hospitality on offer – in the form of a free sausage sanga + a drink for the kids after the game!
The Under 15 Boys will be an intriguing contest as they move up to Division 1 for the first time. There will be some new combinations in our Under 15s as last year’s Under 14s continue up one age, alongside the nucleus of last year’s Under 16s who were playing up an age group. They take on Trinity from Goulburn, who were last year’s Under 14 premiers.
