The Banjo Paterson Inn Jindabyne Bushpigs have earned their spot in the finals after finishing second on the ladder at the end of the regular season.
It has been a strong campaign from the group, winning 11 of 14 games to finish on 59 points, three points shy of Minor Premiers Bungendore who finished on 62 ladder points. The Pigs needed to win on Saturday to be a chance of securing the Minor Premiership, and hope Cooma could defeated Bungedore at Rotary Oval. Whilst the Pigs secured the win 31-24 over a spirited Yass team, Bungendore was too good for Cooma, winning 36-27.
The Bushpigs and Mudchooks have been the standout sides this season to date, with Cooma finishing 3rd on 37 points, 18 ladder points behind Jindabyne, and ADFA rounding out the top 4 with 34 points from their six wins.
One thing is certain: anything can happen in finals footy, with Cooma recently defeating the Bushpigs 39-38 at Rotary Oval, and ADFA the only team other than Jindabyne to beat Bungedore in 2026.
Qualifying Final: This Saturday
The scene is set for another tasty Mudchooks v Bushpigs clash. The Mudchoks will rightfully be favourites as Minor Premiers on home turf, having beaten the Bushpigs 2 out of 3 times they have met this season.
But Jindabyne will be full of confidence, improving against the Mudhcooks in every match this year, and claiming a win only two weeks ago at Bungedore Sports Hub.
The Qualifying Final kicks off at 2:30 pm on Saturday, 25 July at Bungendore Sports Hub 1.
What’s at Stake
Win this match and the Bushpigs host the Grand Final at JJ Connors Oval on August 8th. That is as simple as it gets.
Lose, and they’ll get another bite at the cherry with a home fixture against the winner of Cooma v ADFA on August 1st.
